PM directs comprehensive strategy to boost Pak-Azerbaijan economic ies
Islamabad : Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, during a high-level meeting, emphasized the need to enhance Pakistan’s cooperation and trade partnership with Azerbaijan, particularly in the realms of economy and investment. The prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s geographical advantage as a natural economic corridor to the sea for Central Asian states, which positions it uniquely to facilitate regional trade.
He underscored the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, noting that these relations offer a strong foundation for expanding economic and investment opportunities. Sharif pointed out that the government’s business-friendly policies are attracting increased foreign investment, signaling a positive trend for future economic collaborations.
To capitalize on these opportunities, the prime minister directed the formulation of a comprehensive action plan aimed at boosting trade efficiency and expanding existing trade relations with Azerbaijan. This strategy is expected to enhance the overall trade volume and capacity between the two countries, fostering a more robust economic partnership.
During the meeting, various initiatives were discussed to elevate trade and investment levels, with a specific focus on the substantial potential for energy cooperation. Ongoing discussions for a preferential trade agreement between Pakistan and Azerbaijan were also highlighted as a key element of this strategic push.
The meeting saw the attendance of several high-ranking officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and other federal ministers and special assistants, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening ties with Azerbaijan and Central Asian states.
