BAKU/Tehran: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday arrived in the city of Lachin, Azerbaijan, to attend the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit, following the conclusion of his two-day bilateral visit to Iran — part of his ongoing four-nation diplomatic tour.

Upon arrival at Lachin Airport, the Prime Minister was warmly received by Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin, and other diplomatic officials. He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

During the summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will join Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to deliberate on strengthening trilateral cooperation in political, economic, security, and cultural spheres. A bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz and President Aliyev is also on the agenda.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz concluded a productive visit to Tehran, where he held high-level meetings with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. The discussions focused on bolstering Pakistan-Iran relations, enhancing trade and regional connectivity, and addressing key regional issues.

Both sides expressed their shared commitment to strategic cooperation and regional peace, with the Prime Minister appreciating Iran’s role in regional stability. They also emphasized the urgent need for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, calling for an end to Zionist aggression and the alleviation of Palestinian suffering.

Following the Azerbaijan leg, the Prime Minister will continue his diplomatic journey to Tajikistan as part of efforts to further strengthen Pakistan’s relations with regional partners.
