PM Shehbaz Sharif Arrives in Malaysia to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Kuala Lumpur : Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Malaysia on Sunday for an official visit aimed at further deepening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across diverse sectors including trade, investment, information technology, and the halal industry.

The Prime Minister was received at the Bunga Raya International Airport by Malaysian Minister of Information and Communications Fahmi Fadzil, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, and senior diplomatic officials. He was accorded a warm welcome and extended royal protocol upon his arrival.

At his residence, the Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim personally welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Expressing his gratitude, the Pakistani premier said, “I am very happy to be in Malaysia. I thank the Malaysian Prime Minister for the warm welcome.”

He expressed confidence that the visit would contribute to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

Prime Minister Shehbaz is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

During the visit, the two leaders will hold comprehensive discussions covering a wide range of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interest. Delegation-level talks will also be held to explore new avenues of collaboration in trade, information technology, telecommunications, education, energy, infrastructure, and the digital economy.

A number of agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed to enhance cooperation between the two countries. Both sides are also likely to discuss measures to promote investment, strengthen the halal industry, and deepen people-to-people exchanges.

Undertaken at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the visit is viewed as a significant step towards revitalizing Pakistan-Malaysia ties and advancing mutual interests in the evolving regional landscape.
