PM Shehbaz, President Rahmon Reaffirm Strong Bilateral Ties

Dushanbe:  Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, arrived in Dushanbe today at the invitation of the Government of Tajikistan to participate in the International High-Level Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation (ICGP), being held from 29 to 31 May 2025.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, and senior government officials. Upon arrival at Dushanbe International Airport, he was warmly received by the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, H.E. Qohir Rasulzoda.

Later in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was received by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, at the Palace of Nations (Qasr-e-Millat). President Rahmon extended a warm welcome to the Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation.

In the evening, the two leaders held in-depth and wide-ranging bilateral talks covering various aspects of bilateral cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. They fondly recalled the signing of the historic Strategic Partnership Agreement during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s previous visit to Dushanbe in July 2024, which laid a solid foundation for further enhancing bilateral relations.

Reaffirming the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two countries, marked by shared history, culture, and geography, both leaders expressed satisfaction over the current level of cooperation and resolved to elevate the strategic partnership to a new level for the mutual benefit of their nations and peoples.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also led the Pakistani delegation during delegation-level talks with the Tajik side, where both countries reiterated their commitment to expanding collaboration in trade, energy, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges.
