PM Shehbaz Sharif Announces Asan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad with Azerbaijan’s Support
Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday unveiled plans to establish an Asan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad, calling it a “new milestone in Pakistan-Azerbaijan friendship.” The initiative will be launched in collaboration with Azerbaijan’s State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (SAPSSI), replicating the successful service model from Baku. The Prime Minister said the center would bring multiple public services under one roof, ensuring greater convenience, transparency, and efficiency for citizens. A formal agreement for the project was signed between Pakistan’s Ministry of IT and Telecom and SAPSSI.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Housing Riaz Pirzada, Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, and Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima.
Recalling his recent visit to Baku, the Prime Minister said he was inspired by Azerbaijan’s Asan Khidmat Markaz and had directed Pakistani authorities to replicate the initiative with Azerbaijani cooperation. He emphasized that all appointments for the center would be made on merit through transparent procedures. The Prime Minister further instructed integration of a Business Facilitation Center within the new hub to provide seamless access for both citizens and entrepreneurs.
The PM said the project would also advance the government’s push for a cashless economy and serve as a model to be expanded from Islamabad to other cities nationwide. He thanked Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the government for their “expert guidance and technical support,” adding that the initiative would further strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries.
