PM Shehbaz Welcomes Hamas Peace Initiative, Urges Global Push for Gaza Ceasefire
Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that the recent statement issued by Hamas has opened a crucial window of opportunity for a ceasefire and peace in Gaza — one that must not be allowed to close again. He expressed optimism that the world is now closer to achieving a truce than at any point since the onslaught against Palestinians began.
“Alhamdulillah, we are closer to a ceasefire than we have been since this genocide was launched on the Palestinian people. Pakistan has always stood by the Palestinian people and shall always do so,” the Prime Minister wrote on his official X account.
He also extended gratitude to former US President Donald Trump and the leaderships of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Türkiye, Jordan, Egypt, and Indonesia for engaging on the sidelines of the recent UN General Assembly session in efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment, the Prime Minister said the country would continue to work with all partners and brotherly nations to achieve lasting peace in Palestine.
