Islamabad : The Polish Ambassador Maciej Pisarski concluded the year with a comprehensive press briefing, addressing key international and bilateral issues. He celebrated 62 years of friendly relations between Poland and Pakistan, emphasizing shared values such as respect for sovereignty and international law. The ambassador commended Pakistan on its election to the UN Security Council (2025-2026) and expressed optimism about its contributions to global peace and security.
The ambassador noted Poland’s significant support during critical moments, such as the Kabul evacuation in 2021 and assistance to Pakistani students during the Ukraine crisis. He highlighted the remarkable growth in bilateral trade, which surged from €456.74 million in 2018 to €861 million in 2023. He also underscored Poland’s initiatives like the GreenEvo economic mission and the substantial investments made by the Polish Oil and Gas Company (Orlen Group), which has contributed over $450 million to Pakistan’s economy since 1997.
Addressing pressing international issues, the ambassador strongly condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, labeling it as colonial warfare that destabilizes both Europe and Asia. He criticized the use of North Korean troops in the conflict and reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to Ukraine, with over 4.91% of its GDP allocated to military and humanitarian aid. On the migration crisis along the Polish-Belarussian border, he described it as hybrid warfare and emphasized Poland’s collaboration with EU partners to maintain regional stability and security.
Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2025 will focus on enhancing EU-NATO cooperation, addressing migration challenges, and strengthening defense mechanisms. The ambassador also highlighted Poland’s contributions to humanitarian efforts, including $12.2 million for Palestinian aid, while advocating for a peaceful two-state solution. Concluding the briefing, he reaffirmed Poland’s dedication to fostering economic growth, strengthening global partnerships, and addressing critical global challenges.
