Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong met on Friday to discuss key strategic initiatives ahead of Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s historic visit to Pakistan. The meeting comes as both nations prepare to strengthen ties, marking the first visit by a Chinese premier in 11 years.
The two leaders underscored the importance of Premier Li’s visit, emphasizing the potential to enhance bilateral cooperation. They agreed to establish a dedicated working group aimed at ensuring the success of the visit and achieving tangible outcomes in areas of mutual interest.
Minister Ahsan Iqbal expressed gratitude for China’s continued support, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, energy, and industrialization. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the smooth execution of ongoing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a cornerstone of the country’s economic revival.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong praised Pakistan’s economic progress, noting improvements in GDP growth and foreign exchange reserves under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership. He commended Minister Iqbal’s efforts in advancing CPEC and strengthening the bilateral partnership.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to timely completion of key projects, stressing the importance of long-term, sustainable cooperation for the mutual benefit of China and Pakistan.
