Dushanbe: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Tajikistan to utilize Karachi Port for transit trade during a bilateral meeting with Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda. The meeting, held during Shehbaz Sharif’s two-day official visit to Tajikistan, focused on promoting regional connectivity through the construction of rail tracks and roads between the two nations.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the growing bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their fraternal ties. Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated his counterpart on the successful organization of the 3rd High-Level Water Conference and acknowledged Tajikistan’s significant role in water diplomacy. The signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement was hailed as a historic milestone, expected to foster mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
Highlighting Pakistan’s “Vision Central Asia” policy, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the importance of enhanced engagement with Central Asian countries for sustainable socio-economic development. He proposed hosting a regional connectivity summit to establish trade corridors and bolster regional trade, underscoring the vital role of regional integration.
The prime minister also welcomed the recent commencement of international flights between Pakistan and Tajikistan and advocated for increasing their frequency. He called for further strengthening of social relations, cultural exchange, and cooperation in education, sports, and people-to-people contacts, citing shared religious and cultural values between the two countries.
