Cairo: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif called on President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit, where the two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties. They exchanged views on political, economic, and trade matters, reaffirming their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation.
Recognizing Indonesia as a key trade partner, particularly in palm oil supply, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need to deepen economic and commercial partnerships to benefit both countries. Both sides agreed to explore new opportunities to expand trade and investment.
The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s interest in furthering its engagement with ASEAN and appreciated Indonesia’s role in helping Pakistan achieve Sectoral Partner Status in ASEAN and membership in the ASEAN Regional Forum. He expressed hope for Indonesia’s continued support in Pakistan’s quest for Full Dialogue Partner status.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended an invitation to President Prabowo Subianto to visit Pakistan, which was graciously accepted. This reflects the mutual desire to maintain high-level exchanges and strengthen ties across various domains.
The two leaders reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and advocating for the establishment of an independent State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to sustain momentum in bilateral relations, enhance cooperation in diverse sectors, and address regional and global challenges together.
