Prime Minnister Reaffirms Commitment to Chinese Nationals’ Security in Pakistan
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a secure and business-friendly environment for Chinese nationals residing and working in Pakistan.
Chairing a high-level meeting on the security arrangements for Chinese citizens, the prime minister emphasized that the trust of Chinese companies in Pakistan’s economy is vital for the country’s economic future.
“The confidence of Chinese investors is a cornerstone for our economic development,” he remarked, highlighting that the government was taking robust measures to improve the safety and ease of doing business for Chinese nationals, particularly in the federal capital and across the provinces.
The prime minister underlined that the ongoing development of Safe City projects nationwide reflects Pakistan’s growing capacity to meet international security standards. He described these initiatives as crucial for both public safety and investor confidence.
“China is our close and trusted friend. Ensuring the security of our Chinese brothers is our topmost priority,” PM Shehbaz said.
He further noted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had entered a new phase, focusing on enhanced business-to-business cooperation. In view of this progress, he stressed that safeguarding the lives and interests of Chinese citizens had become even more imperative.
The prime minister directed relevant authorities to make necessary arrangements at all airports to facilitate the smooth arrival and departure of Chinese nationals.
During the meeting, PM Shehbaz was briefed on the status of special security protocols implemented for Chinese workers and professionals across the country. Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi informed the prime minister that in light of potential threats, stringent security measures were being enforced, including armed escorts for travel and installation of surveillance cameras in all new housing projects.
It was also noted that the federal and provincial governments are working in close coordination to ensure the effective implementation of security measures. All ongoing Safe City projects are being developed in accordance with international standards to ensure a safe living and working environment.
Those in attendance included Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi, and other senior government officials.
