Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Tuesday, assured Chinese companies of comprehensive facilitation by his government, particularly encouraging those in the textile sector to establish their industry in Pakistan. Chairing a meeting focused on enhancing Pakistan-China cooperation, he emphasized China’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s development and expressed a desire to broaden collaboration in agriculture, information technology, energy, and export sectors.
During the meeting, various ministries presented proposals aimed at strengthening the economic ties between Pakistan and China, as noted in a press release from the PM Office. The prime minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan through a well-formulated security plan.
He highlighted the preparations underway for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), expressing optimism that with China’s cooperation, Gwadar Port would evolve into a significant logistics hub. The CPEC second phase will also see the establishment of Agriculture Demonstration Zones, with instructions given to ministries to prepare for new projects and enhance business-to-business linkages with China.
Prime Minister Shehbaz underscored the potential for Chinese assistance in crafting a strategy to boost Pakistani exports. He encouraged leveraging Chinese expertise to further this goal and foster mutual economic growth.
The meeting saw participation from several federal ministers and senior officials, all aligned with the vision of reinforcing the Pakistan-China economic relationship. This collaborative approach aims to capitalize on the strengths of both nations, driving development and prosperity.
