Baku:Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam has underscored the importance of disaster insurance plans for vulnerable communities to strengthen resilience against climate challenges. She made these remarks during an event titled Pakistan and the Global Shield held on the sidelines of the COP29 climate summit in Baku today.
Highlighting Pakistan’s proactive approach, Romina said the country has initiated efforts to integrate disaster risk financing into its broader framework addressing loss and damage. This integration, she stressed, is pivotal for ensuring a timely response to disasters, supporting long-term recovery, and bolstering national resilience.
She emphasized that innovative financial tools, coupled with inclusive and data-driven strategies, can significantly mitigate climate risks. Collaboration between governments and global partners, she added, is key to achieving sustainable recovery and building a resilient future for vulnerable communities.
