ISLAMABAD: The launch of the first-ever Silk Road Culture Centre (SRCC) in Islamabad on Tuesday marked a milestone in promoting cultural exchange and fostering global harmony. The historic event witnessed an impressive gathering of diplomats, ambassadors, and cultural enthusiasts from Rawalpindi and Islamabad, symbolizing the spirit of shared heritage and international collaboration.
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Highlighting the significance of the initiative, he called the SRCC “a beacon of solidarity, diversity, and mutual respect,” underscoring its role as a platform to celebrate the legacy of the Silk Road. The Minister applauded private-sector efforts in fostering cultural ties and emphasized the need for such initiatives in promoting inclusivity and shared human values.
Chairman of the SRCC, Jamal Shah, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the ambassadors, diplomats, and partner organizations for their support. Acknowledging the contributions of participating countries, he remarked, “The remarkable cooperation of our international partners has truly brought the spirit of the Silk Road to life.” Shah further emphasized that the SRCC is a vibrant space for cultural exchange, reflection, and learning, committed to inspiring future generations to appreciate diversity and unity.
The Chairman outlined the center’s mission to preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Silk Road nations through exhibitions, performances, workshops, and educational programs. He also highlighted the establishment of the Sir Syed Research Centre within the SRCC, which will focus on academic excellence and cultural studies, inspired by the visionary Sir Syed Ahmad Khan.
Notable contributors, including Zong Pakistan, Serena Hotel Islamabad, Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Hunerkada Islamabad, and the Sir Syed Memorial Society (SSMS), received special recognition for their unwavering support. Their contributions, along with the efforts of participating countries, enriched the SRCC with cultural artifacts and artistic displays, vividly showcasing the shared legacy of the Silk Road.
Syed Ahmed Masood, a Resident Governing Body Member of the SSMS, praised the establishment of the SRCC as a symbol of cultural and academic brilliance. “This iconic center will stand as a testament to the power of cultural collaboration and the beauty of togetherness,” he said, reaffirming the vision of the SRCC as a hub of innovation and shared knowledge.
