Trade Corridors Between Pakistan and Belarus Will Boost Regional Connectivity: Aleem Khan
Islamabad/MINSK : Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan concluded a two-day official visit to Belarus, aiming to bolster bilateral cooperation in trade, infrastructure, energy, and logistics. The visit, marked by high-level engagements with Belarusian officials, underscored both nations’ commitment to accelerating joint initiatives and enhancing regional connectivity.
Abdul Aleem Khan held pivotal meetings with Belarusian Minister of Energy Denis Moroz and Minister of Transport Alexei Lyakhnovich, alongside senior government representatives. Discussions focused on expediting the implementation of existing agreements and exploring new avenues for collaboration. The Minister emphasized Pakistan’s strategic vision to develop trade corridors connecting Central Asia to Eastern Europe through Pakistan, China, Afghanistan, or Iran, positioning both countries as pivotal hubs in regional trade networks.
Abdul Aleem Khan highlighted the critical role of modern transportation infrastructure in driving economic growth, stressing the need for upgraded logistics networks to facilitate cross-border trade. He reiterated Pakistan’s eagerness to expand cooperation in energy, industrial modernization, and food security, supported by a high-profile delegation including officials from Pakistan’s Ministries of Communications, Commerce, Industry, Interior, and the State Bank.
The visit also saw progress toward finalizing new Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance trade, investment, and technological exchange. Belarusian leaders welcomed Pakistan’s proposals, pledging full support for joint ventures. Abdul Aleem Khan was hosted as a State Guest, reflecting the diplomatic significance of the visit and the mutual desire to elevate bilateral relations.
The Minister emphasized that innovation-driven infrastructure is key to staying competitive in evolving trade landscapes. Both sides agreed to prioritize projects in logistics modernization, energy efficiency, and industrial development, aligning with Pakistan’s goals for regional connectivity and Belarus’s expertise in transport systems.
The visit concluded with a shared resolve to translate discussions into actionable outcomes, with several agreements expected to be formalized in the coming weeks.
