Islamabad: The UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Alzaabi, hosted a reception in Islamabad to celebrate the UAE’s 53rd National Day, “Eid Al Etihad.” The event was graced by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, and other dignitaries, underscoring the significance of the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the UAE, describing it as a partnership based on faith, trust, and mutual respect. He emphasized the need for collaboration in sectors like information technology, renewable energy, agriculture, and tourism, while inviting UAE investors to explore Pakistan’s economic potential.
The President highlighted the UAE’s role as one of Pakistan’s largest investors and key economic partners, citing the recent agreements in maritime, logistics, and aviation as a testament to the UAE’s confidence in Pakistan’s economic future.
Recalling the historic ties between the two nations, the President expressed gratitude for the UAE’s consistent support during Pakistan’s challenging times. He also noted that Pakistan was the first country to establish diplomatic representation in the UAE before its formal creation.
The President acknowledged the contributions of the 1.8 million-strong Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, recognizing their role in enhancing people-to-people connections and supporting the development of both countries. He extended congratulations to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE leadership on their national day.
Lauding the UAE’s transformation into a global hub for trade, investment, and tourism, the President credited its success to the visionary leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He expressed optimism for further strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in the years to come.
