UK Lifts Ban on Pakistani Airlines After Safety Improvements
Islamabad: The British High Commission has announced that Pakistan has been removed from the United Kingdom’s air safety list, enabling Pakistani airlines to apply for flight permissions to operate in the UK once again.
According to the High Commission, the ban on Pakistani airlines has been lifted following a thorough review by the UK Air Safety Committee, which recognized notable improvements in Pakistan’s aviation safety standards.
However, it was clarified that Pakistani carriers will still need to obtain approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) before commencing operations.
The High Commission underscored that the decision to remove Pakistan from the list was based on an independent and technical process, emphasizing transparency and adherence to international standards.
The British High Commissioner expressed appreciation for the collaboration between aviation experts from both countries and remarked, “I look forward to flying with a Pakistani airline.”
The British High Commission stated that the resumption of air links with Pakistan would facilitate family reunions and enhance people-to-people connectivity.
It further highlighted that Pakistan remains the UK’s third-largest trade partner in the region, with an annual trade volume of £4.7 billion, signifying the importance of restoring direct flight operations.
